About Us
The Captain Cook group in Honolulu is comprised of two directly owned companies and a sister company.
Captain Cook & Associates is a real estate general brokerage firm which handles real estate sales, property management, long term rentals and vacation rentals, mostly in East Oahu. Captain Cook Resorts is a central reservation company for vacation rental homes and condominiums mostly in Waikiki, and is a licensed travel agency. It is also the marketing arm of our vacation rental operation. Our sister company, with whom we share office space and ownership of the resorts operation, is Unit One, Inc., a film production company specializing in commercials primarily for the Japanese television market.Our real estate company, founded in 1991, is headed by a broker active in full time real estate sales since 1976. A property management division was added to this operation in 1991, and now manages a $70 million portfolio of over 130 properties. The resort reservations company, formerly operating as H.A.L.E. (Hawaiian Apartment Leasing Enterprises) of Laguna Beach, California, was acquired in 1999, and incorporated as Captain Cook Resorts. Here we can help you book reservations in an ever expanding inventory which currently includes more than 100 private homes and 80 condominium complexes on all major islands. Unit One, while primarily involved in film production, contributes greatly to developing our growing Japanese market, and to graphics design for our web site, brochures and other marketing pieces in both English and Japanese. And the Unit One staff assists with Japanese language communications with non-English speaking clients and vacation guests.
The combined operation, with a total staff of 17, is still a group small enough to provide the personalized service our clients have come to expect, setting us apart from those who take the larger, mass market approach to business. We have invested heavily in computer equipment and systems to be able to track the business properly.
We are housed in spacious, tastefully designed offices on Kapahulu Avenue in Honolulu, and always have either a fresh pot of coffee brewing or some cool beverages in case you care to stop by to say hello. You are most welcome to do so any time. Combined, we hold membership in the National Association of Realtors, the Hawaii State Association of Realtors, The Honolulu Board of Realtors, the Better Business Bureau, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, the Hawaii International Film Association, the Screen Actors Guild and the Japan United States Producers Association.
